The GOODS from Curious Oyster

Vancouver, BC | When oysters are in season, Parisian bistros spill over onto the sidewalks with patrons celebrating with plates of ice-cold shucked oysters, warm grilled sausages, baskets of crusty bread, and dewy bottles of Muscadet wine.

This fall tradition comes to Vancouver as Curious Oyster and Racine Wine Imports host a Paris evening at Le Marché St. George on November 14, 2013. Better Together is an oyster and Muscadet tasting, served with rustic breads and butter, and charcuterie from Oyama Sausage Co. “Muscadets are a classic and unforgettable match with oysters,” says Brian Sohn, co-owner of Racine Wines.

Lively, bright, and grown in the Loire Valley near the Atlantic ocean, artisanal Muscadets are a perfect partner for seafood. Guests will taste four wines by vignerons Jo Landron (Domaines Landron) and Marc Ollivier (Domaine de la Pépière), who are among a handful of remaining producers making genuine Muscadets. Both vignerons farm organically and harvest manually, making truly compelling wines that will have you reaching for another oyster. Get all the details after the jump…

At the oyster bar, founder of Curious Oyster, Richard Boucher, will be shucking the finest from Outlandish Shellfish Guild’s family-run farms. To showcase the briny beauty of BC oysters in the autumn and winter months, Boucher selected the Black Pearl variety from Read Island, and Sea Angels, a beach oyster found on Marina Island.

Better Together is the latest Curious Event, a series of collaborations between Curious Oyster and exceptional artists, artisans and food producers in memorable spaces. Only 30 tickets are available, and include the open oyster bar, brasserie-inspired snacks, and 2 glasses of Muscadet.  (Additional glasses may be purchased from the cash bar.) Reserve your ticket at curiousoyster.ca before November 13.
