Vancouver, BC | Designer of the Month is Urszula Petrykowska of ZULA Jewelry + Design. Urszula creates jewelry that speaks to her wonder at and gratefulness to the natural world. Her unique pieces are as different as each landscape she sees and whatever leaf, twig or bone she finds within. For the lover of organically themed and thoughtfully made, she textures metal with imprints of leaves, is guided by the shape of bones to create structure for a piece, and reinterprets branches and roots to lend a new perspective to the wearer / admirer. Her ZULA pieces are handcrafted in silver, copper, gold and bronze in her Vancouver studio overlooking the beautiful Coast Mountains.

As part of Cavalier’s initiative to support the community, 5% from each piece sold goes towards a charity that the designers themselves have selected. The charity that Urszula has chosen is The ALS Society of BC which is dedicated to providing direct support to ALS patients, along with their families and caregivers, to ensure the best quality of life possible while living with ALS. Through assisting research, we are committed to find the cause of, and cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

If equated to a radio station, Cavalier would be playing everything from underground hip-hop to classic rock to the latest indie buzz band. To that end, Cavalier has partnered with their highly regarded local designers to create collections exclusive to Cavalier.

A highlight of this collaboration is a gentleman’s collection suited to the tastes of a demographic often left on the periphery of the jewellery industry. Eminently appealing to both men and the women who shop for them, this collaboration features items such as Sterling Silver flasks, combs, and tie clips. Such pieces, stylish and enduring in nature, also make for ideal gifts of appreciation from groom to groomsman.
