HEADS UP: Ring Girl Competition & Aprons For Gloves Fighters Announcement July 7th

Screen-Shot-2013-07-02-at-10.17

On Sunday, July 7 at The Cobalt, the final contenders for Restaurant Rumble 2013 will be announced! For nearly 3 months, contenders have been training with boxing coaches. After their hard work training and fundraising, the final 42 fighters will be chosen to battle head to head in centre ring on July 24 during Restaurant Rumble! The chosen fighters will have a once in a lifetime chance to experience the lights, the energy and the adrenaline of a boxing match, dueling in a battle of fisticuffs in front of hundreds of their peers!

During the evening on July 7, the Ring Girl competition will also take place. Gals from the service industry will get a chance to strut their stuff in the ring and prove they have what it takes to be a Ring Girl during the Main Event on July 24.

All proceeds will go to the Aprons for Gloves Boxing Association and will support the reopening of the East Side Boxing Gym and help to revive its programs for local youth. In 2012, the funds raised from Restaurant Rumble helped secure a new space for the gym and invest in basic boxing equipment, including bags, gloves and a ring. But there is still a long way to go. There are several renovations that require permits to be approved by the city before the gym can officially reopen to the public and to the kids of the downtown East Side. By supporting your favourite fighter, coming to the event, or simply donating to the cause, you can help make this a reality. Details after the jump…
