Mother’s Day is right around the corner (this Sunday, May 12th) and every day this week (and last) we’ve received lots of awesome pampering ideas and details for special brunches and suppers from Scout Community members. Rather than put them up individually so that they flooded the front page, we decided to organise the mega post below instead. Take your Mom garden shopping! This Mother’s Day, Victory Gardens and Homesteader’s Emporium are partnering for a Pop-up Shop. Organic and East Van local veggie starts will be available. Decadent desserts and beautiful blooms are both traditional ways to thank Mom for everything she does for you. This Mother’s Day, Beaucoup Bakery is combining the two with a special edition 10” raspberry pistachio macaron frais, large enough for the whole family to share.

Differing from a regular macaron, a macaron frais is filled with fresh pastry cream and fruit gelée, and decorated with fresh fruit, for a light-and-lively dessert. Pretty pink meringue shells will sandwich fresh pistachio pastry cream and a centre of raspberry gelée, with fresh raspberries studding the outside. The top will be decorated with edible flowers, so you can give Mom flowers and dessert all in one!

The Dirty Apron will be holding a Mother’s Day Brunch Bunch Cooking Class on Sunday, May 12th from 11:00 to 1:30.  This condensed cooking class will consist of two courses: Cinnamon Brioche French Toast with Grapefruit Riesling Sabayon, and Double-Smoked Bacon Eggs Benedict smothered in Sun-Dried Tomato Hollandaise.
