ON THE ROAD: Follow Scout As We Cruise All Around The Western United States

by Andrew Morrison | Greetings from ridiculous hot Southern California. Though Scout has been as active this past week, we’ve been AWOL, posting on the road with the help of Vancouver company Roam Mobility. They’ve given us a cool roaming device to test drive called “Liberty Mobile Hotspot”. The rates are pretty darn amazing when you compare them to Rogers’ or Telus’ roaming charges (like under $100 for 5GB over 30 days). I’ve been using the hell out of it, posting to Scout, filing stories for the paper, using social media and sending and answering a gabillion emails. So far it’s worked like a charm, powering a MacBook Pro, a MacBook Air, two iPhone 4S’, and an iPad (it’s literally like having a cellphone-sized modem in my pocket). For the last week we’ve taken our trusty VW Westfalia through Washington, Oregon and all over California. Right now I’m posting from a campsite in Morro Bay, about 200 clicks from LA. We’ll be eating through the City of Angels for a week, and then it’s Arizona, Utah, and Idaho. After that, who knows? Follow along on Instagram and Twitter. Oh, and please tweet us your dining recommendations and such. We could use the guidance, and would be lost without the advice that we’ve already been given (many thanks)!
