CANUCKERY: Canucks Top Conference & Win President’s Trophy, Will Face LA In 1st Round

The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers by a score of 3-0 tonight in the 82nd and final game of the regular season. The win kept the Canucks ahead of the St. Louis Blues for first in the West (for the 2nd year in a row). It also – finally – inched the Canucks past the New York Rangers in the East for 1st overall in the NHL (NY lost to Washington earlier in the evening). So that’s the President’s Trophy again, too. It’s hardly a dynasty, but I’ll take it, plus one more win than last year in the playoffs. The show starts Wednesday against the 8th seeded Los Angeles Kings. Home ice advantage for as long as we take advantage. Are you feeling it?

Bonus: Jon Stewart of The Daily Show riffs on the Boston Bruins in this must-watch, masterful remix.

EDIT: In my cups, I wrote last night that the Canucks had won the Conference. That was me putting the cart before the horse. I’ve duly knocked on wood, spun around three time and spat with apologies.
