The GOODS from Dockside

Vancouver, BC | Fresh off winning Georgia Straight Golden Plate Awards for Best Patio and Best Brewpub Dockside Restaurant and Brewing Company at the Granville Island Hotel has announced a series of new events for the spring sure to please beer and patio lovers alike.

The first new event on the schedule will be the launch of weekly brewery tours and tastings to be held each Thursday at 4:30pm. These tours will be led by Dockside Brewer Martin Farrell and will include the opportunity to walk through the Dockside Brewery learning about the brewing process and the differences in process and ingredients which allow brewers to create the vast range of beer flavours. Learn more after the jump…

When the brewery tour is over, Martin will host a tasting of Dockside’s signature beers talking about the history of the styles with tasting notes and food pairing suggestions as well. The tours will be held weekly at 4:30pm each Thursday beginning April 12th. Space is limited and pre-booking by emailing [email protected] is recommended.

Dockside Brewing is also looking forward to participating in Vancouver Craft Beer Week again this year. Taking advantage of the better weather that later VCBW dates promise, Dockside will be hosting a Cask and BBQ Patio Party on Wednesday May 23rd. The party will feature casks brewed specially for the occasion by brewmaster Mark Simpson along with barbequed delights from Chef Simon McNeil.

The feature cask will be a French Oak-aged Old Bridge Black Lager. This unique beer is brewed in a Schwarzbier-style patterned after beers originating in central Germany. It’s crisp, toasty and delicious, pairing very well with the BBQ and smoked meats that will be on offer. Along with offering the unique opportunity to enjoy a casked Dark Lager, the party will also be a chance to sample Dockside’s summer seasonal Hefeweizen and Jamaica Lager which will be tapped on the May long weekend. Tickets go on sale April 12th.

Dockside Restaurant and Brewing Company is open 365 days a year serving fresh brewed beer and fine casual West Coast cuisine. For more information, visit www.docksidevancouver.com.

About Dockside

The Dockside Restaurant offers superbly prepared classic dishes in a setting like no other. Located on the waterfront where Granville Island faces the city, guests can enjoy panoramic views across False Creek to the world-famous cityscape of Yaletown and beyond to the mountains of the North Shore.

The open dining room is relaxed yet refined, wrapped in spectacular floor to ceiling windows, while the lounge offers warm intimate surroundings for evening cocktails. The award-winning patio catches sunlight from morning to late afternoon. Protected on three sides it’s an oasis of calm, disturbed only by the occasional sound of boats making their way along False Creek. Recent renovations have added fireplaces and casual seating areas to this Vancouver destination.

These three venues offer seating options that are perfect for groups from 4 to 200. With signature elements like a 50-foot aquarium and an open kitchen, each meal is an experience for all the senses. Located adjacent to the boutique Granville Island Hotel, the Dockside Restaurant is open seven days a week serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are recommended.

Reviews

“This is our very favorite place. We drive into town from Delta and make an evening of browsing through Granville Isl. Market. The restaurnat is perfect for a quiet evening.View is wonderful. I appreciate the spacious arrangement of the tables. We have our favorite table, the staff and service is fabulous. I had the herb crusted Halibut – it was delicious and my husband enjoyed the slate fish. It was a memorable evening. We look forward to another visist very soon. As well, we have enjoyed the great patio – has to be one of Vancouver’s best.” OpenTable.com

“We have going to Vancouver for many years and most recently (if twenty years can be considered recently) staying exclusively at the wonderful Graville Island Hotel. Because we have an aversion to hotel restaurants, this is the first time we have had dinner there. It was one of the finest dinners we have in a city that is known for its fine restaurants. Outstanding in every way!” OpenTable.com

“We enjoyed the welcoming feel of the restaurant – appropriate lighting, comfortable seating – it is like a comfortable dining room. We will return again as the restaurant has once again met our expectations. The salmon was nicely prepared and the lamb was well presented and excellent on the tongue. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable.” OpenTable.com
