SWAG: Win A Pair Of Tickets To Wednesday’s Pecha Kucha Vancouver “All-Star” Edition

The hotly anticipated Pecha Kucha All Star Edition is coming up fast, and the line up is pretty awesome. Thousands of attendees and fans of PKNV were mailed electronic ballots with every one of the past 226 Pecha Kucha presenters’ names on it. These names came out on top:

David Eby • BC Civil Liberties Association
Diane Roberts • Urban ink productions
Chef Todd • 12b
Marian Bantjes • Graphic Designer
Bruce Haden • Bruce Haden: Architect, Dialog
Ken Lum • Artist
Sean Orr • Writer
Omer Arbel • Omer Arbel Office
Katrina Pacey • Pivot Legal Society
Graeme Berglund • The Cheaper Show
Danielle LaPorte • Danielle LaPorte
Andrew Morrison • Scout Magazine
Dave Olson • Uncle Weed

We have a pair of tickets to give away. Here’s how to win: the next Pecha Kucha (Vol. 21) will feature presenters from the realm of contemporary arts, so we’d like you to give your one cent as to who should present in the comments below (one suggestion per person please). We’ll put all the names into a hat and pull one out on Wednesday at noon. We know the organisers at Cause + Affect are Scout readers, so perhaps you’ll be making their hard job easier. Good luck!

  1. Bring me the one they call Coupland. Why? I like it when he drinks too much Chardonnay and loses track of time and space.

  2. Since there’s a tremendous resurgence of interest in his work making it contemporary again, Fred Herzog!

  3. I guess I should have refreshed the page before posting, but the more votes for Fred Herzog the better!

  4. David Nicolay and Robert Edmonds of Evoke Design…particularly in regards to the Live Nation posters they create. However, they’re involved in many aspects of the arts which would be interesting.

  5. I’d like to see Destroyer speak at Pecha Kucha. He’s truly one of the creatively vital people in this city, and somehow more appreciated in other city’s than here in his own.

    I’d 2nd Fred Herzog.

  6. Kristin Bjornerud for her talent of depicting the wonderment we all once possessed as children.

  7. I’d like to see Marian Bantjes, but I’ll happily second Brian Jungen as well.

  8. Crystal Precious – Sweet Soul Burlesque…she’d bring some rockin photos and some mind provoking verbiage.

  9. Yuxweleptun, Arden, MacFarlane, Dikeakos, Kurt Lang, Clint Burnham, Jeff Otto Obiren, Chris Olsen, Stan Douglas, Lukacs, Instant Coffee, Ben Raymer, Lisa Giroday.

  10. Steven & Jane Cox – not just because they produce this event, but I’m betting they’ve got a cool story to tell

  11. Doug Coupland,
    Marian Bantjes,
    Gordon Smith,
    Peter Edmunds, doctor extraordinaire,
    Peter Wilde,
    Shawn Place,

  12. I would have to second Jamie D. Grant. Besides, how many actual magicians have there been at Pecha Kucha?!

  13. Matthew Unger: Mainstream Conservation
    – integrating technology into conservation
    – effective eco-tourism
    – integrating art, music and local community into Conservation Celebrations

  14. How about:

    Norman Armour – PuSh Festival
    Dina Del Buccia – Writer
    Kaitlin Fontana – Writer
Cam MacLeod – Comedian, Olio Festival
    Bif Naked
    Kris Krug

Oh, I could go on, but I’ll stop there.

  15. Julie Cruikshank: A cultural anthropologist and someone who was way ahead of the curve in raising awareness of oral history in first nations.

    Shane Koyczan: spoken word

    Barry Zelt: quirky geophysics

    Andrew Weaver: smart dude

  16. Oops, just noticed the focus was contemporary arts. I went shotgun. Sorry.

    Peter Kiss?

  17. Danielle LaPorte

My girlfriends got Fire Starter Sessions on our bedside table. I thumb through it now and then…great book!
