SWAG: Submit Your Photos And Win A Trip For Two To The “Clayoquot Oyster Festival”

We’re giving away a weekend for two to Tofino’s legendary Clayoquot Oyster Festival. The package – valued at roughly $1000 and arranged with the aid of our friends at Tourism Tofino – includes two nights of luxurious accommodation at the Pacific Sands Beach Resort (Nov. 18-19), two tickets to the Mermaid’s Ball, two tickets to the Oyster Fest Gala, two tickets to the Remote Passages Oyster Farm Tour, and an Oyster Trio for two at the award-winning SOBO restaurant. (note that transportation to and from is not included, but man is the winding drive ever awesome!)

To enter the contest, you need to do a few things…

  1. Express your keenness in the comments below.
  2. Visit the Oyster Fest’s Facebook page and “like” it.
  3. Submit two of your own photographs (only two) to Scout’s Flickr Pool. Photo 1 should be of something delicious (it doesn’t need to be an oyster). Photo 2 should involve BC’s coastline in one way or another. Both should include captions detailing the what and the where, and both need to be taken by the person entering the competition (duh).

The deadline for submissions is this Monday, November 7th at noon, so get out there and start shooting! Our crew will narrow down the entries to our favourite 5 combinations that afternoon and then post them for our Facebook fans to “like” at their leisure until noon on Friday, November 11th. The person whose images garner the most “likes” in the time allotted will be declared the winner (and will have 7 nights to pack for what will likely prove to be a weekend to remember). In the unlikely event of a tie, Scout will cast the deciding vote. All clear? GO!

A few images from our most recent trips to Tofino to get your juices flowing…

I haven’t had a chance to see Tofino during storm season, would love to check it out. Also would be interesting to check out the tour of the Oyster Farms while in that neck of the woods- good to see where your food comes from.

  8. Ryan on November 2nd, 2011 5:22 pm

I would love to have an extra reason to visit Tofino (having never been there) and this would give the extra incentive to take a trip up to Tofino. This would be a great experience, that I’d hope, would result in some awesome photo opportunities of the various scenic scenes that Tofino can offer.

Either way hope you enjoy my photos and hope you have a wonderful winter!

This is one of my favorite events in Tofino. Even if you don’t love oysters, the events are a lot of fun and the Osyter Farm tours (added today) take you up into the pristine waters of Clayoquot Sound. Not to be missed. What a great opportunity!

No better place than near the ocean in BC

  38. Annie Ciesielski on November 7th, 2011 12:48 pm

Hi, I would love to go to Tofino and eat oysters, oysters, oysters – I am a keen photographer but have not been to Tofino for a very long time (about 25 years!), but everytime you have a photo contest you only want photos from your own area, sooo for people who would like to go for the first time there is no chance to participate in your contest, so that way you only reach the old crowd …..

  39. Scout Magazine on November 7th, 2011 1:51 pm

    Hi Annie,

To clarify, this is the first photo contest that we’ve ever done, and I don’t think that asking for pictures of BC’s coastline is all that restrictive (though I did see an entry from Ireland). I nevertheless apologise to those of our readers who are from the interior and beyond. We love you guys, and will try to accommodate you in future photo contests!
