SWAG: Who Wants To Win A VIP Package To Go See Anthony Bourdain Tomorrow Night?

The good folks at Yaletown’s award-winning Blue Water Cafe have given us two VIP passes to go see culinary polymath Anthony Bourdain speak at the Center In Vancouver For Performing Arts tomorrow (Saturday) night at 8pm.

Following the release of his newest best-seller, Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook, Anthony Bourdain will visit The Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts for one night only, Saturday, October 29, 2011. Chef, author of Kitchen Confidential, and host of Travel + Escape Channel’s No Reservations, Bourdain will spend the evening sharing candid, and often hard-hitting insights about his life’s work and travels, including an open question and answer session with the audience.

This is going to be a thousand kinds of awesome, as the package includes the following for two: premium seating; exclusive access to post-show reception meet and greet with Anthony Bourdain; hors d’oeuvres by Executive Chef Frank Pabst of Blue Water Cafe at reception; limited edition Anthony Bourdain poster (numbered exclusive to ticket packages); and goodness knows what else. To stand a chance at winning, express your interest in the comments below and keep an eye on our Twitter feed and our Facebook page for the giveaway late tonight!

  5. I would totally sell out my Hallowe’en plans for tomorrow night, risk the wrath of all my friends that have planned this party for months, and make the 2 hour drive from Whistler to meet the living legend himself.. Bourdain is my hero!

  6. I’m a 5’4 girl that can eat so much meat it’s ridiculous. People have nicknamed me a ‘carnivore,’ and I thought there was something wrong with me until I read ‘Kitchen Confidential. Thank you Anthony – you are my hero.

“To me, life without veal stock, pork fat, sausage, organ meat, demi-glace, or even stinky cheese is a life not worth living.” Anthony Bourdain

Please pick this girl so she can TAKE HER MAN OUT!

  13. I am a sucker for everything Tony Bourdain. I drink his cool aid. I. I am also very broke. I wanted to attend the event when word broke out, but when I saw the price tag I couldn’t. Instead, I would spend the night watching No Reservations reruns and cook something from the menu at Les Halles.

Going to the real deal would be amazing experience and one I’ll never forget.

  14. Ha! That was lovely. Hold on to that creativity until the giveaway on our Facebook page tonight…

  24. Unsure about wheelchair seating, Sherry. I’m in the middle of cooking dinner. Care to check for us?

  25. I would love to go. This would be way better than handing out toothbrushes and raisins to the neighbour kids. Not that they come around anymore. We’ve developed a reputation,

  26. I love Anthony Bourdain and his sense of humor; my husband loves that he can be an asshole! Along with his ability to eat and drink his way around the world-amazing!!! We would be thrilled to see him live!!!

  27. The best food writing by Anthony Bourdain is in the same class as writing from George Orwell and Gabrielle Hamilton at their grimiest and funniest. It would be an entertaining evening, and I’d love to go. Pretty please.

  28. OMG! I would love to win the contest. All other schedules would be cancelled for Bourdain.

  31. sounds a little too wet with hero worship here, best forget the idols at the altar of personality

  32. Ahhhh….I so want to go! I had planned on buying tickets, but then things came up. It would make my whole weekend if I won 🙂

  33. I have been a fan of Tony’s for many years. He is a great traveller and presenter because he is not only funny and willing to question the foibles of humanity, but he is pretty damn respectful of the really important things too. It’s a hard dichotomy to achieve, matching hilarity and sincerity. Not to mention the fooooood…..He has inspired me to travel to many places and meet as many grandmothers as possible so I can learn their recipes. That’s who deserves to be on television, and it’s Bourdain that puts them there.

It would be a dream of mine to see him in person!

  34. I really, really, really wanna win this
It would turn what’s been a hard day in the kitchen into absolute bliss
I love to travel and eat just like Mr. Bourdain
So it would be f*ckin awesome to meet him cause we are kinda the same
I will do anything possible to win these tickets over my commenting neighbors
Except maybe getting on my knees for sexual favors

  35. hope everyone is great and as excited as I am?!

I’d love to go, but at the chance of winning I’ll be entering because It’d be great to give 2 deserving parents a night out! thanks for the opportunity to win! Bye

  36. This would be pretty awesome to go to. I actually have the evening off, which is unexpected…

  37. I would love, love, love to win this prize and meet Anthony Bourdain! Pick me, pick me!!

  38. If only I could have Anthony over to my home for a dinner party…can we include this in the VIP package? I’d love to win. Then I can invite him myself.

  39. I recently moved to Vancouver from Ottawa and just discovered Scout. This would be amazing to win!!

  40. In the words of mr. bourdain himself… If you can catch a chef in a reflective moment – over a pint, say – and ask him what are the worst aspects of his job, he’ll probably say: “The heat, the pressure, the fast pace, the isolation from society, the hours, the pain, the relentless, never-ending demands of the profession.” If you wait a while, maybe two more pints, and ask him again, this time about the best parts of being a chef, more often than not you’ll get the same answer.
As a chef coming up through the ranks in vancouver, tofino and most recently australia, these words has been mine to live by. This and the rest of his ‘commencement speech’ touch upon all the range of emotions that we go through as cooks in this industry and somehow so accurately describe the ‘work hard play hard attitude’ that we embody as a group of rowdy hard workers!
To be able to listen to the man himself would be such a pleasure! pick me!

    Louise

  41. I love Anthony Bourdain even if he doesn’t like Billy Joel. I need these these tix so I can tell him that.

As a new cook reading Kitchen Confidential
If you choose me I assure,
It will be an amazing Cooks Tour
If asked to work tomorrow I’ll tell them I quits
I’d rather go and hear about the Nasty Bits
Hope you don’t find my writing blah, blah
I just want to take in some Medium Raw

  45. Yes!!! wheelchair seating is available still. It would be great to have this opportunity. I can picture it now. A night on the town – Me, my husband and my service dog.he’s been to more restaurants and theatre in town than some people!
    Please and thank you

  46. I would eat my weight in tube-formed-meat
For such a glorious opportunity… Please don’t make me.

  47. Anthony Bourdain’s books have inspired me to follow my passion to cook, and I’ve spent my short career in the kitchen noticing how true his words ring. A night listening to him talk would be a perfect finish to a day of prep.

  48. Blue Water Cafe has amazing food. Too bad it’s no longer a Dine Out Vancouver restaurant.

  49. OMG Facepalm… Bourdain, dream come true!! PICK ME! Please with a fried egg on top 🙂

    I’d really like to.

  52. If you pick me I will throw a quince at him from the audience while wearing a Scout magazine t-shirt. You can never have too much publicity.

    Please.

  54. Hells yes I want in on this! I’ve been repeatedly hitting [F5] since a few to midnight, just waiting for the moment when this drops…

  55. I’m patiently waiting by my computer to hear that my husband and I are the lucky ones with the VIP passes. I would even introduce Anthony to my service dog who can express his love for meat.
