SEEN IN VANCOUVER #322: The “Hastings Folk Garden” Is Taking Root On The DTES…

Here’s a birds-eye shot of a work crew installing a new community garden (Hastings Folk Garden) in the empty lot across from Save On Meats on the 100 block of West Hastings, just two doors down from InSite (as seen from reader’s apartment). This city just gets better every day…

  1. Also the other half of the garden that you see there on the eastern side of the lot is going to be a homeless street soccer pitch!

  2. “two doors down from insite”?

    who cares!!?
would it be less important somehow if it weren’t?

get the junkies weeding. does a body good.

  3. I was just providing a geographical reference for readers, as in “L’Abattoir, located two doors down from Six Acres.” Do it all the time. Mystery as to how you could misconstrue as remotely untoward, but knock your socks off.

  4. Will Concord be donating the tax breaks from the community park back into the community? It would be a nice gesture, perhaps even just bringing back the Tour de Gastown and being the main sponsor would be nice.

  5. Do you know who is in charge of this, as I would love to get involved!

    Thanks!

  6. PHS is running the folk garden, they plan to have bees and chickens too! Stop by and chat the crew up, they are super friendly!
