About Fishworks

fishworks2

The Lower Lonsdale food scene is blowing up, and Fishworks has just lit the fuse. Serving contemporary, West Coast-inspired seafood just minutes from the Quay, chef/owner Shallaw Kadir is quickly making a name for himself with his neighbours.“Eating fish doesn’t have to be a luxury,” he says, “it should only taste like it.”

This neighbourhood bistro is a blend of old and new: clean, minimalist design under lofty, heritage ceilings meeting a new gastronomic ethos at the table. Shallaw works tirelessly to source 100% Ocean Wise-approved seafood items and presents them in timeless dishes like Paella and Fish & Chips with sauce gribiche and mushy peas. It’s the kind of place where the waiters pull out your chair and hold the door for you. If you aren’t from the neighborhood, Fishworks will make you feel like you are.

  1. Fishworks is another stylish restaurant where the food does not live up to the style, hype, or the price. Yes it is decent (but we seem to have a glut on “decent” stylized eateries), I was surprised to see it touted in Scout….
