Seen In Vancouver #311: Hot Green Grenade About To Let Loose In East Van Waterfight

These days it’s rare to hear of waterfights as anything but grown-up flashmobs or Facebook events arranged by the lonely in pajamas set, but they go down just about every sunny day at McLean Park in Strathcona. With its waterpark and drinking fountain, McLean has all the ammunition a child can ask for, save for miniature balloons. Suupersoakers and the like might be very popular, but nothing beats the shoulders-up, sudden, sodden shock of a water balloon to the head (I could do without the tears that follow, but whatever). The big ones are ungainly, break easily and can prove rather traumatic when beamed full strength. So parents, always seek out the little ones that fit square in the palm of your child’s hand. They go farther, are a lot more accurate and only break when thrown especially hard.
