Tea & Two Slices: On Campbell’s Legacy, Scarves and Real Trolls

by Sean Orr | Take a look at Gordon Campbell’s legacy through the eyes of a 20 something, popped-collar wearing, penny-stock trader. Apparently, First Nations are “almost as happy as before the white man came to this country”. Wow. Or how about this gem regarding the Gateway Project: “Ten lanes of Fraser Valley love (paid toll love so it’s like a hooker). SFU travel is quicker with additional lanes, too late I already gradded”. Yeah, you might want to check that diploma. It might be from STFU.

Another wonderful thing Campbell did was the completely non-controversial Sea to Sky Highway, of which they’ve been accused of implementing a shadow toll, which are oddly enough a lot like real trolls. They hide under bridges and everything.

NDP delegates back James’ leadership. Already elected MLAs who have been working under James? Not so much. How can you tell? They were the ones NOT wearing the bright yellow scarves. Duh.

Bob Mackin has a great twitter: “3 certainties of life in #BritishColumbia: 1) Disgraced Premiers; 2) lousy November weather; 3) Canucks slumps”.

Suzuki distances himself from Galloway over concerns the controversial former British MP will “pour rhetorical oil on the fire.” Right, of course. By withdrawing your support you’re totally not pouring any rhetorical oil on the fire. They could have easily just said they support StopWar from the beginning. Instead, what this says to me is that political opportunism in the form of the Pro-Israeli lobby trumps the human rights of millions of refugees living in the Occupied Territories.

Drunk stabs himself in doughnut-shop holdup. Apparently, he felt bad for taking the last honey kruller.

Vancouver’s Ethical Bean Coffee gets Oprah’s stamp of approval. Oh cool. So her bad taste isn’t limited to just books? Relax, I’m kidding. Congrats!
