Vancouver, BC | The Cascade Room’s Nick Devine follows-up his tremendously successful Winter Olympics “bobsled shots” with the introduction of the “sub bench shots” for this summer’s FIFA 2010 World Cup. The “sub benches”, inspired by 16 of the 32 competing nations, hold four shots each and come complete with a trivia card for each country. Read the stats, test your knowledge and Drink Up!!
The off-field competition at The Cascade Room should be just as intense as the on-field exploits in South Africa, with England, South Africa and Australia all represented at the bar (sorry Canadians and Nigel, Cascade’s lone Welshman – maybe 2014). The Cascade Room features an aggressive cocktail program by Nick Devine, steeped in tradition rather than trend. Having worked in Vancouver, San Francisco and London (including a stint in Oxford with Cascade co-owner Nigel Pike), Nick’s philosophy can be summed up as follows: “Whatever you desire, whether it’s a rickey, a daisy, a julep, a sling, a sour, a flip, a toddy or a nog…we’ll endeavour to make it”. Additionally, there are several options on tap, including pub-standard Guinness and our own Cascade Lager. The wine list is varied and affordable, serving a fine complement to Chef Williams’ offerings.
Local design and branding firm Evoke International created an ambience reminiscent of the British Pub, but with a modern twist.
