Vancouver, BC | George Lounge congratulates Shaun Layton on being named Vancouver Magazine’s 2010 Bartender of the Year. His win gives George the distinction of having two such award winners on its talent roster since opening in 2005. George alumni Nick Devine won the Vancouver Magazine Bartender of the Year Award in 2007 while working at George.

Reflecting on the award, Layton says he’s “thankful for the fantastic platform for quality and creativity that George provides” and advises aspiring bartenders to “learn the basics about the history and production of alcohol and cocktails first, keep it simple, and once you’ve got that down tweak the classics and make them your own.

He celebrated with bourbon and a few of his fellow bartenders.

Earlier this year Layton and George Lounge hosted the 2010 Mixlympic Games where some of the best bartenders in the world competed head-to-head in a competition to demonstrate their bartending speed, creativity and showmanship.
