I like this shot because of what shows in the curled up and quite pleased expressions of the veteran chefs seated on the right. It’s plain how much they appreciate the significance of the moment for diligent Felix Maristany, the Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts student who won the Les Clefs D’Or scholarship today at the Chefs Table Society’s annual general meeting. Well done Felix.
I find myself staring out the window…are they on Granville Island in Vancouver?
I can’t speak for the others but what I was thinking was ……………
lucky bastard, you are going to Spain to learn with Ferran Adria!
Seriously, it was a great moment. He had the next few years of his culinary life mapped out and he was sharing it.
Good luck Felix
It’s hard not to look like a complete ass in front of the chefs I admire so much and can only dream of accomplishing what they have done for this city and the culinary world. …. Last name is actually Maristany, it’s cool, I loves all O’ y’all. It was an honour.
Our bad on your surname. All fixed. And congrats again.
Answer for Tim:
The photo was taken at the Pacific Culinary Institute, which is a stone’s throw from Granville Island.
Congratulations to Felix.
I used to live in Vancouver, I live in Phoenix Arizona now. Somebody on Twitter put that picture in a link, and I suddenly thought “Hey that looks like the granville street bridge in the background!” I made the comment, and then realized I was reading a site about Vancouver! doh! Way to pay attention there Timmy!
