A pass through Gastown early this evening was cathartic, as if one recently installed version of the neighbourhood was being replaced by a newer one, assembled right on site in front of my eyes on a perfect summer night. The only incongruous construction was that of a Vera’s Burger Shack, very nearly finished now, complete with black and white-patterned rawhide banquettes underneath brick walls that are much older than City Hall.

Yin | Vera’s burgers are the John Fluevogs of local burgers, so all is unicorn-worthy symmetry and light.

Yang | Carrall’s brand newly expanded sidewalks are extra double plush super good and wide for especially fat asses.
