Always Empty “Metro” Heaves A Quiet Sigh And Finally Closes…

img_8049

A bad sign: this was the dinner rush at Metro during Wine Fest. Totally dead, save for the chef and manager...

Can’t say I’m surprised by this. Word is the very pretty but always empty money hole shut down yesterday at 5pm (the phone has been disconnected). Another casualty, but of what exactly?

Certainly not a surprise. I went one time and found that ordering your food by the ounce was a ridiculous concept. Was not impressed by the food either.

    Casualty….you’re asking of what?

    Poor concept
    Poor planning
    Poor design (wrt efficiency)
    Poor infrastructure
    Poor marketing
    Inconsistent product
    Over budget
    No accountability
Failure to connect with their target market…whoever that was.

I think that that is more than enough to make a restaurant fail. This one certainly was not a casualty of the poor economy. They were doomed from the start. It was a wonder that they made it this long.
Hype does not a restaurant make.

Went there three times and while the food and service were always very good there just seemed to be something missing. I always felt a little uncomfortable. Kind of a sixth sense, when you know your in a restaurant that’s just not going to make it.
