First Look At Main’s “Latitude”, Finally Seeing The Light Of Day

latitude-2

Lisa Henderson and Larry Nicolay, former owners of Tofino’s superb Raincoast Café, have finally opened Latitude eight months after securing the Budapest Restaurant location at 3250 Main Street. There are 46 seats, split between a lengthy banquette and a few cloistered, walnut-wrapped booths in seated in sexy scarlet. The front of the room sees a simple, 6 seat marble bar topped with peekaboo cabinetry (and lined with silver stools similar to those at Salt). The unassuming, impersonally modern look was the work of Evoke ID, the same design firm responsible for such Vancouver rooms as Glowbal, Sanafir, The Cascade Room, and the new Irish Heather (Evoke principal David Nicolay is Larry’s younger brother). As noted when Scout broke the news of Latitude’s coming, the concept is wine-forward with 15 whites and reds by the glass picked from the Americas (from BC all the way down to Chile and Argentina), and affordable food reflecting the same journey. Click for their very intriguing dinner menu, their reds, and their whites.

A few snaps to get a feel for the place…
