The Sweetest Things In Vancouver This Week

Things we’re either doing, wishing that we could do, or conspiring to do this week…

Invasion of the Suburbs

Vancouver’s delicious celebration of BC food and wine is back! Enjoy a three-course dinner at over 180 of Vancouver’s hottest restaurants for $18, $28 or $38 per person. Dine Out is a great reason to visit new restaurants (or old faves). I have heard great things about La Brasserie and plan to use Dine Out as an excuse to get myself in to see if everything I have heard is true (they’re offering a $28 menu with local wine pairings for an extra $20). I also like the sound of the menu at the Bacchus (my choices would be salad of baby spinach, anjou pear and blue cheese, lemon dressing, slow braised Alberta beef short rib, creamed potato, red wine jus and vanilla and mascarpone cheese cake) for only $38. Word to the wise: they are already sold out on both weekends and are only accepting weekday reservations. There are too may Dine Out participants to mention, so for a full list (along with menu options) visit the Tourism BC website.

Michelle Sproule grew up in Kitsilano and attended Bond University in Australia and the University of Victoria before receiving her graduate degree in Library Sciences from The University of Toronto. She lives by the beach in Vancouver and enjoys wandering aimlessly through the city’s shops and streets with her best friend – a beat up, sticky, grimy, and uncooperative camera.

  1. You mention Paula Nelson but not Canadian songstress Kathleen Edwards? Shame.

Admittedly Kathleen’s show is sold out (or very close to it…it seemed to be at one point, then a few tickets got released) but still…CanCon please. At least give her a shout out.

  2. Hi Darcy,
We were all set to throw Kathleen Edwards on to the Scout List but discovered that her show was sold out. We try not to torture people by telling them about great things they can’t do. But your passion is inspiring and you’re right, the woman does deserve a shout out.

    Canadian Songstress Sells Out
Kathleen Edwards (super talented musician from Ottawa) plays her tunes at the Rio Theatre. Sometimes hauntingly beautiful, sometimes feisty and playful – Kathleen Edwards is worth a listen, even if you can’t make this show.

Jan 16 | Rio Theatre | If you find tickets – tell us, we would love to know.
