A New Year Brings Tuesday Tastes, Brunches by Fowke and the ‘Weekly 6’ at Mon Bella Bistoria

Start the New Year with Tuesday Nite Tastings at Mon Bella Bistoria. Grab some friends and enjoy a trio of small plates paired with a trio of wines. Beginning Tuesday, January 13th, Mon Bella Bistoria introduces this weekly wine and food pairing for $20 per person. Executive Chef Brian Fowke’s menu will be a reflection of the season and the corresponding drink selections will range from wine and bubbles to sherry. The website will be updated weekly with the following week’s menu.

The first evening’s menu (Tuesday January 13th) will include:

Cauliflower Soup with Township 7 Sauvignon Blanc

Mushroom Ravioli with Maurel Vedeau Pinot Noir

Braised Beef with Cusomano Nero D’Avola

Brunches by Chef Fowke

Saturday and Sunday Brunches begin at Mon Bella Bistoria to warm up winter bellies. Beginning Saturday, January 17th from 10:30am til 3:30pm, Brian Fowke has designed a menu featuring both classic as well as regional dishes from Italy, France and Vancouver. Some of the items to look forward to include an Italian Benny with eggs poached in tomato sauce; a classic French Omelette with tarragon, chives and gruyere cheese; and French Toast stuffed with Naramata peaches and Birch Tree Maple Syrup. From hangover induced cravings to much needed weekend marathon-training refueling, this new brunch spot will quickly become a Vancouver favourite.

‘Weekly 6’ by Chef Fowke

In addition to his regular menu of classic French Bistro and Italian Trattoria dishes, Executive Chef Brian Fowke will feature his ‘Weekly 6’ menu additions to reflect his local ingredient sourcing. A sample of a some of the planned additions include:

Soupe aux champignons $8
Crème fraiche, thyme, capicolli

Escargot de Bourgognes $12
Tapenade, prosciutto, cipollini onions, mushrooms

Antipasto – Warm Mozzarella $6
Oven roasted tomatoes, basil salad, olives

Alla Griglia Squid $9
Grilled calamari, bucatini noodles, crushed tomato, roast garlic, preserved lemon

Frutti di Mare Cioppino $24
Halibut, pacific scallops, mussels, clams, chili, tomato broth, garlic crostini

Boeuf Braise – Raclette $21
Short rib, baby potatoes, crispy raclette cheese, cornichon, Dijon sauce

Côte de Veau au Citron $29
Milk fed veal chop, leek risotto, lemon olive oil, pecorino
