Local Pears Do The Body Good

Approaching the winter months you’ll want to keep your body fortified and strong – so eat well. Pears are in season right now, and they’re awesomely versatile. Not only is a pear a wonderful accompaniment to a piece of local cheese it’s also a great source of vitamin C, copper and fibre.

Vitamin C and copper can be thought of as antioxidant nutrients that help protect cells in the body from oxygen-related damage due to free radicals. Vitamin C functions as an antioxidant in all water-soluble areas of the body, and in addition to its antioxidant activity, is critical for good immune function.
