About Plan B

Urban and stylish, sophisticated yet casual…Yaletown’s newest arrival is a hip lounge with some of the best tasting share plates in town. Executive Chef Michael Batoux has hit his mark with a tapas style menu for true food lovers. With the focus on small plates and big tastes Chef Michaels classic French style mixed with an array or worldly influences promises to excite any palette.

The long narrow room with exposed brick and beams has a sleek design with a modern feel. Even the music is funky and fresh.

So What Is With The Name?

“Didn’t Plan A work out?”
“Why would you want to tell people you are a second choice?”
“Don’t you know that is the name of the morning after birth control pill?”

The true story behind the name…the day Glenn found out this amazing location in Yaletown was available, is the very same day that he found out that the first location he was going after had fallen through…he joked about changing the name to Plan B and his fiancé loved the idea, so…done!

But really…how often have plans fallen through for you only to have something better come along…how many times has your first choice been a mistake but you find a real gem on the second time around. We can all relate to the fact that in hindsight plan “b”, very often, would have been the best choice to have made in the first place. So why not make it your top pick to begin with? As for the morning after pill…..no, we didn’t know.

The Team

Glenn Cormier – Owner
After 15 years in restaurant management Glenn has finally branched out to open his own. With a broad range of experience in everything from fine dining, to casual chain restaurants and from four star hotels to high volume nightclubs, Glenn has managed in just about every food & beverage environment under the hospitality umbrella. The concept of Plan B was born on a recent trip to San Francisco with his fiancé checking out different wine bars and restaurants. The idea of a cozy, comfortable lounge with great food is hardly a revolutionary concept in this business but it is definitely something that is lacking in Vancouver. “It is just a place that I would want to hang out in” notes Glenn.

Micheal Batoux – Executive Chef
Born and raised in Canada, at the age of 17 Michael took the opportunity of his dual Canadian / French citizenship and returned to Europe where he undertook culinary art school in France. After working in Great Britain for a time Micheal toured through a few of years in Michelin rated restaurants of France including La Pyramide of Lyon and L’Oasis in Cannes. Eager to learn more of what the culinary world had to offer Micheal sent himself off on a working tour of the world that eventually landed him in Vancouver, which he looks forward to calling home for years to come.

Renee Muller – Sommelier / General Manager
What would a wine bar concept be without a true expert in the field on board.
Professionally trained with The International Sommelier Guild, Renee speaks lovingly, passionately and knowledgably about wine without even a hint of pretension. Previously with Dockside Restaurant & The Granville Island Hotel Renee has put together a wine list that is easy to navigate, very approachable and hard to go wrong by.

Reviews

“…you could come in just for the drinkage, as there are plenty of innovative cocktails, bubbly treats and a fine wine list. But it really would be a complete shame to miss out on Chef Ryan Zuvich’s culinary wizardry.” Cassandra Anderton – MartiniBoys.com

“Plan B Lounge & Eatery is a likeable new Yaletown tapas bar…Owner Glenn Cormier designed the room himself with some close attention to detail…Executive Chef Ryan Zuvich has included a few pleasant surprises of his own” Alexandra Gill – Globe & Mail

“…expect great things here” Andrew Morrison – Eat Magazine / Westender
