The folks behind Granville’s Sip Resto Lounge have taken over the space upstairs (formerly The Sugar Refinery). The project, at 1115 Granville, was first dubbed MRKT, but with the coming of Jean George’s Market in the Shangri-La they wisely rebranded to avoid confusion. The new name is The Refinery. The design job is by by M-Studio, the same company that did the new Hapa Izakaya in Kits and Earls Paramount. The plan is to launch “a new world eatery” with an old world feel. Oceanwise, et cetera. Construction is well underway with a late October opening forcasted.
